最初のところを分詞構文？でまとめてみました。

＜考察＞
After completing と結構普通でよかった。

The smokers fought tooth and nail for smoking freely
at their desk, but they couldn't do anything.

＜言い訳＞
「多勢に無勢で」は、outnumberを使うのかな。

＜正解＞
Smokers fought tooth and nail to keep puffing at their
desks, but nonsmokers outnumbered them.

＜考察＞
ここはいくつか注目したいです。

まず最初のSmokers。私はThe smokersとしましたが、
一般の喫煙者ではなく、職場の喫煙者ということで
特定されているから、という理由です。

次に、at their desks。私はdeskと単数にしました。
まあ複数なんでしょうね。

「多勢に無勢でどうすることもできなかった」は、
nonsmokers outnumbered them
「非喫煙者が数で勝った」という表現。

（３）筋金入りのブルースファンであるピーターは、過去
20年間に3000枚以上のアルバムを集めた。(die-hard)

＜言い訳＞
かなりいいんじゃないかな。

＜正解＞
Peter, a die-hard blues fan, has collected over 300
albums in the last 20 years.

＜考察＞
fun -> fan の誤りです。

正解の方が微妙にシンプルですね。
for the past 20 years / in the last 20 years
の違いはよく分からないですね。
