していたせがわきりさんが書いた、ハワイへの親子でのプチ留学
の本を読んだことがあります。

読者の方から頂いた質問です。
ハインリッヒさんの4行目の以下の文の二つ目のthatの意味は何？
というものです。so thatの略か？というご質問です。
Combine that with medications prescribed by doctors that can
double the chance of success.
それを医師の処方による薬物療法と組み合わせると、成功する見込み
が倍加するのだそうです。
私の解釈では、これは命令文であり、thatは関係代名詞で、先行詞は
medications、というものです。直訳すると、
成功する見込みを倍加する医者の処方による薬物療法と組み合わせなさい。
これで正しいでしょうか？

ところが、見出しのknock back a drinkは、一見、形は似ているが
まるで発想の違う表現で、逐語訳ではぴんとこない。語源としては
「あお向いて(throw one's head back)?を喉の奥(the back of one's
throat)に、一挙に流し込む」といったところであろうか。

全米を挙げて学力向上を目指しているようです。
日本もゆとり教育の方針から方針転換したばかりです。
やはり学力は重要だということなのでしょう。
