──────────────────────────────
If someone is at odds with someone else, or if two people
are at odds, they are disagreeing or quarrelling with each other.

at odds 相争って
「相争って、相反目して」の意。oddsは競馬などの「オッズ」すなわち
「賭け率」という意味のほか、「優勢、勝ち目」などの意味も持つが、
それらが競争や勝敗に関連した言葉であることを考えると、この語が
「相争って」の意をなすことも理解できる。

このつながりで意味を持つようです。

よく動く」といったイメージがある。hand and footは強調で、「手から
足まで」つまり「手袋をはめてやったり、靴をはかせてやったり、上から
下まで全部」である。「まめまめしく」とか「忠実に」といったニュアンス
が感じられる表現。ただし、現在の使い方としては世話するほうからいって、
「いかにもたいへんだ」とか「そこまで世話を期待してもらっては困る」
といった場合に使うことが多い。
