Korean actor Bea Yong Joon was well-established as a
leading “Korean Star”since he starred in a TV drama
“winter sonata”. Korean people are now more interested
in his management expertise. Contrary to his popularity
in Japan, some people in Korea say he has already passed
his peak. Whether he will break new ground or not is
drawing the attention at people in show business.
Bea bought an ailing entertainment company this March
and became largest shareholder, who owns about 40% of
the business. Furthermore he recently made his entertainment
agency subsidiary of this company. He gained 16 billion
won, about 2 billion yen, through the process. It is
said that assessed value of all the stocks he owns
would exceed 50 billion won, about 6 billion yen.
Bea, who is also keen to the restaurant industry, opened
traditional Korean restaurant in Tokyo. There is a world
of difference in aggressiveness to business between
Japanese celebrities and him. Some Korean people are jealous
of his success saying he is too sensitive to money. (本多)
