5月号のテキスト60ページで杉田先生が電子辞書について書かれています。
今日は、本メルマガを作るために使っている辞書についてお話します。
基本は電子辞書で、SR-E10000というものです。
この機種はコウビルドが入っているのでお気に入りです。
コウビルドで見つからなかったら、オックスフォード(ODE)で調べます。
英和は補足的に使います。
これでもだめなら、E-DICの出番です。
E-DICはパソコンに入れて使う辞書です。
口語表現の解説が特に優れていて、例文も充実しています。
たいがいのアメリカ口語はここで見つかります。
E-DICはビジ英との相性が良いように思います。
E-DICでもだめな場合は英辞朗です。
英辞朗は書籍版は持っていないので、アルクのサイトで調べます。
気が向いたときには、NHKやさしいビジネス英語実用フレーズ辞典で
過去に同じ表現が出てきていないか探すこともあります。
ここまで調べて見つからない場合は、インターネットで検索する時
もありますが、メルマガへの採用をあきらめることも多いです。
特にE-DICはお勧めです。

本の中身はこんな感じです。

I haven't even used it yet.
これが1章あたり32個。全部で10章あります。
通勤電車の中で、朝4個、夜4個、音読することにしました。
昨日と今日で16個を繰り返し音読しました。
マスターズミーティングで岩村圭南先生は1分間でもかなり
音読できるので、すきま時間を使ってトレーニングしましょう
とおっしゃっていました。
通勤電車ではすいているのでわざわざ各駅停車に乗り、
駅と駅の間が大体1分から2分くらいの感じなので、
これを単位として3行英文を音読しています。
そうすると時間が限られてくるので、貴重な時間という感覚
が自然と生まれてきます。
”限定品”に弱いという、人間心理を使ったテクニックです。
朝はまだ調子よく音読（もちろん黙読）できますが、
帰りは疲れているためか、今日は途中で寝てしまいました。
3日坊主にならないようにしないと。。。

の続きですが、今日早速トレーニング本を買ってきました。
岩村式トレーニングブック 表現力アップ編です。
2003年度の英会話レッツスピークの土曜日放送分をまとめたものです。
3行英文が32個で1つの章となっており、全10章構成です。
1冊で320個の3行英文を身体に染み込ませることになります。
1章を1週間でやっていくつもりです。
とはいえ、続くかちょっと心配。。。

今回（Learning to Talk the Talk (4)）のビニエットでポターさんが、
世界各地の英語の会話をオンラインで聞いている、と言っていますが
どこのサイトでしょうね。
Skypecastがそれに近いかなと思うのですが。
杉田先生の解説で、conquer Englishとmaster Englishの語感の違いも
興味深かったです。
英語をマスターするという日本語とmaster Englishは完全には一致しな
いようですね。master Englishは（完全に）マスターするという意味の
ようです。
日本人が英語をマスターするといいたい場合は、conquer English
（英語を克服する）のほうが適しているかもしれません。

NHKラジオ 実践ビジネス英語 Learning to Talk the Talk (3) 5/16 2008
土曜日に3誌合同オフ会、日曜日にマスターズミーティングに
行ってきました！
合同オフ会は10人ほどの少人数でしたが、皆さんオフ会に
参加されるだけのことはあり、色々なお話をお聞きすること
ができました。
普段は意外とラジオ番組で英語を勉強する人は見つからない
ものですが、今回はNHKテレビ、ラジオ番組の濃い話をする
ことができました。
次回はぜひ他の多くの方ともお会いしたいですね。
日曜日にはマスターズミーティング。
私は第二部に参加しました。西蔭浩子先生と賀集利樹さん、
岩村圭南先生のレッスン、遠山顕先生を交えたディスカッション
という構成でした。特に岩村圭南先生のレッスンに感動しました。
岩村圭南先生は江戸っ子らしくラジオよりももっとアグレッシブに
練習練習また練習と連呼されていました。
会場では3行の文章を5つその場で繰り返し音読させられ、身体に
しみこませるトレーニングをしました。特に暗記をする必要はなく
身体のどこかに英文をしみこませることが大事だそうです。
これにいたく感動しまして、帰りに圭南先生の新刊「英語をめぐる冒険」
を買いました。これは圭南先生は初のエッセイだそうです。
あとはトレーニング本も一冊買って音読でもしようかと思っています。

合同オフ会は10人ほどの少人数でしたが、皆さんオフ会に
参加されるだけのことはあり、色々なお話をお聞きすること
ができました。
普段は意外とラジオ番組で英語を勉強する人は見つからない
ものですが、今回はNHKテレビ、ラジオ番組の濃い話をする
ことができました。
次回はぜひ他の多くの方ともお会いしたいですね。
日曜日にはマスターズミーティング。
私は第二部に参加しました。西蔭浩子先生と賀集利樹さん、
岩村圭南先生のレッスン、遠山顕先生を交えたディスカッション
という構成でした。特に岩村圭南先生のレッスンに感動しました。
岩村圭南先生は江戸っ子らしくラジオよりももっとアグレッシブに
練習練習また練習と連呼されていました。
会場では3行の文章を5つその場で繰り返し音読させられ、身体に
しみこませるトレーニングをしました。特に暗記をする必要はなく
身体のどこかに英文をしみこませることが大事だそうです。
これにいたく感動しまして、帰りに圭南先生の新刊「英語をめぐる冒険」
を買いました。これは圭南先生は初のエッセイだそうです。
あとはトレーニング本も一冊買って音読でもしようかと思っています。

英語には色々な勉強法があるので、自分に合ったやり方を
見つけることが重要になってきます。
前々回に英語暗記ツール「パタパタシート」をご紹介しました。
今日は別の単語暗記法をご紹介します。
リング式暗記カード、ご存知ですね。
あれを使います。
(1) すべてのカードの表に英語、裏に日本語を書き、リングを
取り外し、山にします。
(2) 覚えているものと覚えていないものを別の山に分けていきます。
(3) 最後まで分けたら覚えていない山について(2)を繰り返します。
(4) これを繰り返すとすべて覚えることができます。
パタパタシート並みにアナログ感が漂いますが、
なぜだか覚えられそうな気がしますね！

昨日、丸善に行きましたら勝間和代さんお勧め書籍フェアを
やっていまして、その中に多くのオーディオブックも含まれて
いました。
そこに並べられたオーディオブックは一つ5000円程度は
していました。やや高いなぁという印象です。
勝間さんによると本代をけちってはいけないのですが。。
しかし世の中には無料のオーディオブックがありました！
プロジェクトグーテンベルグをご存知でしょうか？
読み合わせ仲間のYさんから教えていただきました。
著作権の切れた本をテキストデータにして公開するプロジェクトです。

英単語はすごくたくさんありますからね。
英検やTOEIC対策としても英単語を暗記するのは重要です。
先日、NHK「プロフェッショナル仕事の流儀」で茂木健一郎さん
が茂木流の英単語の覚え方を紹介していました。
単語を読みながら書きながら必死に覚えるというやり方だった
ように思います。
あれは五感を使って集中して行うということがポイントなんだろうと
思います。
ほかにも面白い暗記法を見つけましたので紹介します。
1枚の紙を8つに折りたたんで英語と日本語を書き、パタパタ言わせながら
フラッシュカードのように単語を覚えていくというものです。
私もビジ英のワンレッスン分で作ってみました。
なかなかのアナログ感です。

実践ビジネス英語はテキストなわけで、本物の英語ではありません。
私の場合、テキストだけで英語を勉強する段階はとうに過ぎている
気がするのですが、いまだにメインはビジ英です。
メルマガ執筆によりビジ英の勉強の仕組み作りはできているのですが、
それ以上の段階にはいけていません。
そこでナマの英語に触れる機会も増やしていきたいと最近思っています。
洋書を読むのがその一つとしていいかなと思うのですが、
なかなか続かないわけです。
英語のオーディオブックというものをちらほら聞くことがあるのですが、
まあ読めないものは聞けないだろうな、と思っていました。
下の記事のように翻訳書と合わせてオーディオブックを聞くという
ステップを踏めば敷居も低くなるかもしれません。

disapproves of them because they attract a lot of attention but
do not achieve anything useful.

I know it's worked wonders for me.
