「英語屋さん」の発言は、

昨日のTOEICで気づいたこと：題材が日本のものが混じっていました。Part1で日本のの写真があったり、最後のパートで日本の会社のビジネスレターが出たりしてました。

会社でIPテストを受けました。今回は特にTOEIC対策はしませんでした。Part2が難しかったです。文章の出だし（When / How / Where / Whoなど）を聞き逃すと、何が何やら訳わからなくなりました。あとはなんとなくできたような気がします。Readingでdedicateの落成式という意味がわからなくて一問、間違えました。そんなとこです。

ケイタイでボキャビルですかぁ。英語学習にまた新たなツール登場か？

4月よりNHKラジオの英会話入門、英会話、やさビジの3本をやっております。このうち英会話入門、英会話は生で聞けないので、ラジオをタイマー録音しようとセットしていたのですが 、何日間も全く録音されていませんでした。昨日その理由がやっとわかりました。タイマーの時計が12時間ずれていたのでした。来週からは録音できることでしょう。ただしカセットテープへの録音なのでMDにダビングしないと通勤中に聞けません。このあたりが面倒です。MDラジカセを買うかどうかが問題です。

Howdy HowdyのLesson Boyは日常会話の定番表現をクイズ形式で学べる優れものな掲示板です。ある表現には定番の言い方というのがあり、それがすぐ口から出るようにならなければならない、という趣旨のようです。英会話スクール（http://www.howdyhowdy.com/）は渋谷にあります。スクールもこの定番表現（10000あるらしい）を叩き込まれるそうです。

Tachibanaさんのサイト(Welcome to Tachibana)では「Howdy Howdy/口語表現クイズ」ができます。
ふぃーびぃさんのサイト（Phoebe's web site）では「レッスンメモ」が見れます。
フロッギーさんのサイト（奥様カエル vs English）では「ハウディでゲットした表現集」が見れます。
SHOWさんのサイト（SHOW's PAGE）では「Learn by yourself」が見れます。

さて、最近、有力サイトのオーナーがこのHowdyの無料特待生としてレッスンを受け始めているのにお気づきでしょうか？

英語征服の新井さん、 新英語の世界エルハザードのMAKOTOさん、 SHOW's PAGEのSHOWさん、そして 10 Thingsの中井さん もレッスンを始めた模様です。

既にこれらのサイトのいくつかではレッスンの様子がレポートされてます。これらの人気サイトの管理人が良い評価をすれば、サイトの訪問者に与える影響は大きいといえるでしょう。逆に人気サイトのオーナーに認められる自信がHowdyにはあるともいえます。

インターネットを使った口コミによるＰＲはバイラルマーケティングと言い、最近話題の手法ですが、これの一種といえるのではないでしょうか。

やさビジREVIEWで、やさビジ単語のテストが行えます。

今月より新しく始まったNHKテレビ　英会話トーク＆トークのホームページを追加。掲示板へのカキコが多いです。第一回放送を見ました。巷の英会話サークル参加型の番組で、ロールプレイング形式のレッスンでした。

ぐらんぴいの 英語学習への扉　は便利ですねえ。便利なので上にあげときました。何が便利って、まず日記にやさビジ、英会話、英会話入門などの単語などが載ります。ぐらんぴいさんはかなりのNHKラジオ講座マニアですね。次に、昨日新設された「英会話」「やさビジ」日英のページです。 マウスで触れるだけで単語の意味が表示される優れものです。単語テストに使えそうです。

問題はアウトプットですね。日常的に英語を使う環境になければ、 
音読は毎日欠かさずにやってください。できれば100語から200語程度の 
まとまった英語を使って音読してください。実際の場面で発話しているつもりで、 
しっかりと声を出してやってください。時間は10〜15分程度でよいでしょう。 
これで英語を話す際に必要な口の筋肉を維持できます。 
シャドーイングをしたり、現実の場面で英語を使うことは、 
口の筋肉を増強するのに役立ちます。 

 
ですからやさしい英語で構わないので（むしろ、硬い英語を使うよりも、 
やさしい英語を自由自在に使いこなせるほうが大切です）、 
自分の考えや意見が相手に正確に伝わる英語を書く練習をしてほしいと 
思います。２週間に１テーマで十分です。 
私が教える学生の中には、毎月１回、自分の書いた英語を 
国内で発行されている英字新聞に投稿している人がいます。 
採用されても恥ずかしくない英語を書くのは本当に大変だそうです。 
でもこれがTOEICで800点を超えた人には良いトレーニングに 
なるのです。 

 
英語を書いたあとは、そのテーマで実際にだれかと話してみるのが 
よいと思いますが、その機会がない場合は、 
せめて暗唱だけでもしてみましょう。 

 
佐藤さんは英字新聞を読まれているようですが、 
読者の投稿欄には目を向けていますか。 
あまり見ていないようでしたら、今度ぜひ見てみてください。 
そして、自分の意見を言う時に使えそうな表現を全部盗んで、 
ノートに書き出してください。投稿欄はかなり参考になるはずです。

10 Things I Like about English! と　やさビジ福岡の会 共に掲示板が復旧しました。http://www.jp-net.ne.jp/mb/によると、サーバ障害およびDNSの障害だったようです。しかし、この無料掲示板のトップページhttp://www10.jp-bbs.com/からはhttp://www.jp-net.ne.jp/にリンクが張ってあり、こっちが本当の掲示板のトップページでした。こっちには障害のお知らせのページもあるのですが、そんなことは掲示板がアクセスできないのだからわかるはずもありません。うーむ。

「高校・大学の入試勉強は、追いたてられるように勉強したけど、
自分で決めて自分で実行するトレーニングをこなすのは、すっごい楽しい！！」
と言うのです。 
誰から命令されるわけでもなく、自分で決めたことだからそれを制覇
していくのは、ゲームと同じ感覚なんだとか。 
そして、そのゲームの成果が上がっているかどうかをＴＯＥＩＣで
確かめると言うのです。 
毎日本当に楽しそうにトレーニングしているんです。

中国のことわざ

知っている人は好きな人には勝てません。 
好きな人は楽しんでいる人には勝てません。」 

最近、「英語学習の目的を見失っています」という方を掲示板やMLなどで見かけます。TOEICの勉強をしている人が、ふと、「TOEICでいいスコアをとって何になるのだろう」とか、「自分はそもそも何のために英語を勉強していたのだろう」と、我に返ることがあります。私も「英語勉強したい病」にかかって半年、なんとか今日まで細々と持続できていますが、途中で「はて、このディクテーションは何のためだっけ」と我に返ることもありました。

英語学習の目的は人ぞれぞれ違います。仕事で英語が必要だから、将来英語を使った仕事をしたいから、海外旅行の時に英語でしゃべりたいから、視野が広がるから、など。

どうしても英語が今必要なのだ〜という差し迫った要求がある場合は、楽しくない学習への意欲も持続させることができます。仕事がらみでない場合は、なかなかモチベーションを持続するのは難しいのではないでしょうか。そのようなケースでは切迫感がありませんから。このような状況の学習者の中には冒頭のような疑問が出てくることもあるでしょう。

そういう場合は英語学習自体を楽しめるような学習方法を考えることが大事だと思います。

仕事で必要だからという人にもこれは当てはまります。というのは、出典は忘れましたが、楽しんでいるときは学習効果が高く、いやいや勉強しているときは学習効果が低い、という研究結果を見たことがあります。この実験は小学校の授業中に笑いのある授業をする場合と、シーンとした授業を行って、学習効果を比較したものでした。

では私達、英語独習者は、どのようにすれば楽しく英語が学習できるのでしょうか。何か良いアイデアをお持ちの方がおられましたら教えてください。

それから現在、新聞の速読をされているようですが、 
新聞を読んだ後に次のトレーニングを加えてみることをおすすめします。 

「記事を見ないで、他人に伝えることを想定し、 
大事な点を落とさないように英語で言ってみる。 
そして、大要を１、２行にまとめて英語で書く」 

これは上述の本で、米田王丈先生（21歳）が紹介している学習法です。 
私自身もやったことがあり、とても力のつく学習法です。 
なお、米田先生は『週刊ST』を使ってこのトレーニングをやり、 
２年間でTOEICスコアを435点から935点に上げた方です。 

また、その日に読んだ記事に出てきた単語や熟語のうち、 
印象に残ったもの（日本語でも意味を理解しているもの）を 
現在お持ちの英英辞典で引き、定義や例文を音読してみることを 
習慣化してください。これは頭の中で完成しつつある英語回路を 
定着させてくれると同時に、話す力も伸ばしてくれます。 
上手に音読[次に暗唱]できない場合は、何度も書いて覚えてください。

私はYahoo掲示板TOEICなどをよく見に行きます。前回、LYCOS掲示板を取り上げました。その他のポータルの掲示板はどうなっているのでしょう？　日本のポータルサイトの多くは掲示板機能を持っています。英語の掲示板は果たして「使える」ものなのでしょうか？　土曜日の昼下がりに調べてみました。

調査結果： Yahoo強し。質・量ともに他を圧倒しているYahoo掲示板は英語に関してもダントツの充実ぶりです。

おせちもいいけどカレーもね。YAHOOもいいけどLYCOSもね。というわけでLYCOS掲示板　英語です。YAHOO掲示板と似たような感じですが、スレッド表示できたり、スレッドの全てのコメントを表示できたりと、LYCOSの方が優れています。評価とか得点とか機能があるようですが何なんでしょう。

私の英語学習記録もここに載せてます。最近音読が全くできないのですが、どうしましょう。音読しようとすると気持ちが悪くなるのです。

どこかのページで、英語を勉強しようとすると気持ちが悪くなる人は、脳に英語の回路ができつつあり、一種の拒絶反応というか、何かの変化が起きつつある良い兆候である、などとかかれてありました。ホントかな〜

今、話題の書といえば、、、「英語は、絶対勉強するな！」（サンマーク出版）！！！

読んでませんけど、実際は目いっぱいリスニングとかするみたい。

Greenyの部屋 Hを追加しました。このサイトは雑誌TIMEでボキャビルをしようという趣旨です。TIME関連のサイトは他にもありましたがこのサイトの掲示板が最も充実してました。TIMEといえば目指せ英検１級！の皆さんからのおたよりの中で、「英検１級はＴＩＭＥを表紙から最後の頁までを全部読むという単純な動作を３年間、続けると合格できます」とありました。英検１級では語彙力がものを言うというわけです。私にはTIMEはとても読めませんがいつの日か読む日が来ることを夢見たいと思います。

TOEIC Friendsのe-Coaching BBSですが、BBS3にも有益な学習法が載っています。なかでもDUOを滅多切りにしている個所は、DUOを購入したが全く手をつけずにいる私にとって複雑な気持ちになりました。

　「役員クラスはTOEIC800点」。日立製作所がキビシイ昇格条件を打ち出し，話題を集めている。日立では2001年度からTOEICを人事評価基準に採用し，将来の役員など経営幹部候補には800点，課長昇格には650点を条件に設定した。

先週はTOEIC公開テストが行われ、各掲示板もその話題で持ちきりでした。かく言う私は先々週に会社でIPテストを受けました。今回は文法対策をしたのでパート５，６は完璧に近いできでした（と思う）。

English vs Ryo の掲示板では、最近やさしいビジネス英語（略称やさビジ）を聞き始めました、という声や、「イギリス大好き」（NHK教育テレビ）が話題になっています。かく言う私もやさビジを英語学習の基本にしております。「イギリス大好き」も毎週寝ぼけながら見ています。アシスタントのもろずみりえさんのある意味ファンです。

2001/01/28 TOEIC Friends e-Coaching BBS

このページを開くにあたり、英語サイトの広範なサーベイを行いました。リンクをたどり、たどり、たどり。。。　これまではＴＯＥＩＣを中心とする社会人の英語独習系サイトを中心にカバーしていましたが（大げさ）、これまで手薄だった翻訳通訳系（英語のプロ）、英語教育系（キッズ、中学、高校、大学）、海外在住者系（留学、駐在妻）、海外大学ＥＳＬ系（無料ＷＥＢ講座）などさらなる英語関連サイトの地平がそこには拡がっていました。。。　

その結果掘り出した掲示板が、以外にもTOEIC Friendsのe-Coaching BBSです。ここでは担当トレーナーの先生がモデレータを勤めてくれます。TOEIC対策の掲示板としては非常に質の高いものといえましょう。3月までの限定運営ということです。特に今回、BBS2での安達先生による1/28のコメントのなかで、「サイトトランスレーション」「スラッシュリーディング」 というのを知りました。某翻訳系の掲示板で「サイトラ」というトレーニングが書かれてありまして果たしてその中身は？　という感じでしたが、要はいわゆる直読直解のための具体的なテクといったところのようです。例えば、次のように英語の順番で理解できるように訳してゆくそうです。

。。。followed by 〜：。。。に次いで〜

〜　after ：〜の前に

これは便利かもしれないですねえ。
